We offer the material — the practice is yours. Herbs from the garden, oils for a quiet moment, a few things worth keeping, made in small batches by one pair of hands.

A short H&J story

Two women, one cell

Jutta of Sponheim was enclosed at the monastery of Disibodenberg in 1112. She took a child with her — Hildegard, eight years old. Jutta taught her to read, to keep a garden, and to notice what grew where. Hildegard outlived her by forty-two years and wrote down everything she knew about plants.

I named this after both of them because the interesting part isn't the visions — it's that one woman taught another woman what grew where, and it survived.
